Tributyrin Uses
Tributyrin is used on young animals to reduce diarrhea after weaning in young animals, reduce weaning stress, increase survival rate and daily weight gain.
Mechanism of action
It is an emulsion of butyric acid and glycerol. It does not break down in gastric juice but is slowly released into butyric acid and glycerol under the action of pancreatic lipase. This process repairs intestinal villi, inhibits harmful intestinal bacteria, and promotes the absorption and utilization of nutrients. In young animals, tributyric acid glyceride reduces post-weaning diarrhea, reduces weaning stress, and increases survival rate and daily weight gain.
Its main uses in animal husbandry can be summarized as follows
1. 100% gastric pass-through;
2. Prevention of enteritis – Effective absorption of at least 100 ppm butyric acid in the hindgut, preventing nutritional diarrhea and proliferative ileitis in the colon;
3. Mucosal protection – Uniform absorption in the foregut, midgut, and hindgut, effectively repairing intestinal mucosal damage and providing comprehensive protection for the intestinal mucosa;
4. Promotion of lactation – Increases feed intake in sows and promotes lactation;
5. Rapid energy supply – Quickly provides energy to intestinal mucosal cells, promoting rapid growth and development of the intestinal mucosa;
6. Uniform growth – Promotes feed intake in weaned piglets, improves nutrient absorption, and significantly enhances the uniformity of the pig herd.
