Tripropylene Glycol Applications
1. Daily Chemicals and Fragrances
Main Uses: As a fixative and solvent.
Function: Due to its low volatility and good solubility, it effectively reduces the evaporation rate of highly volatile components in fragrances, making the aroma more lasting and stable. It is a common carrier solvent in high-end perfumes, cosmetics, and detergents.
2. Polyurethane Industry
Uses: As a raw material or reactive diluent for polyester polyols.
Function: Participates in the synthesis of polyurethane foams, elastomers, sealants, and coatings with specific flexibility and elasticity.
3. High-Performance Lubricants and Functional Fluids
Uses: Used as a base fluid in the synthesis of special ester-based lubricants.
Function: Ester oils derived from it have excellent high and low temperature performance, lubricity, and low volatility, and are widely used in aircraft engine oils, compressor oils, and high-temperature chain oils.
4. Plastics and Resins
Uses: As a plasticizer and modifier.
Function: Improves the flexibility of plastics (such as PVC), or is used to modify unsaturated polyester resins, improving their processing performance and the toughness of the final product.
5. Other Applications
Tobacco Industry: Used as a solvent and humectant in tobacco flavorings.
Inks and Coatings: Used as a high-boiling-point solvent to prevent surface skinning and improve leveling.
Gas Chromatography: Used as a stationary phase.
