Applications of Benzenesulfonyl Chloride
Benenesulfonyl chloride is a commonly used sulfonation reagent, mostly used to prepare sulfonamides, sulfonated esters and sulfones. Sodium thiobenzenesulfonate, an intermediate used in the synthesis of sand silkworm poisonous insecticide sulfur, is also an intermediate for pharmaceuticals and dyes. It is used in the manufacture of ice dye color bases, such as red base B, red base GL. Benzenesulfonyl chloride is a reagent for the identification of gums.
