Ethylene oxide, also known as oxirane or 1,2-epoxyethane, is a cyclic ether with a three-membered epoxide ring. It is a colorless, highly flammable gas at normal ambient conditions, with a low boiling point and high chemical reactivity. It is widely used as an industrial intermediate, particularly in the production of ethylene glycol and other ethoxylated chemicals.
Ethylene oxide is a colorless, pure liquid, flammable, explosive, toxic, the highest allowable concentration in the air is 50×10-6 (mass fraction).
Ethylene oxide is volatile in the liquid state, its vapor is flammable and explosive, and its explosive limit in the air is 3%-100% (volume fraction).Ethylene oxide begins to polymerize when the temperature is above 40℃.

Applications of Ethylene Oxide
