Optical Brightener ER-1 is a stilbene-based fluorescent whitening agent with the chemical name 1,4-Bis(2-cyanostyryl)benzene. It is also known as Fluorescent Brightener 199, Fluorescent Brightener ER, Fluorescent Brightener ER-I, Optical Brightener ER and FBA 199. ECHA identifies CAS 13001-39-3 as 2,2'-(p-phenylenediethene-2,1-diyl)bisbenzonitrile, while commercial references use 1,4-Bis(2-cyanostyryl)benzene as a common product name.
