p-Toluenesulfonamide (CAS 70-55-3), also known as 4-Methylbenzenesulfonamide and p-Tosylamide, is an organic sulfonamide compound widely used as a chemical intermediate and functional additive.
It is used in organic synthesis and industrial applications including plasticizers, resins, hot-melt adhesive formulations, paints and coatings. It can also be used as an intermediate in the production of certain chemical products.

Applications of p-Toluenesulfonamide
Used in organic synthesis. p-Toluenesulfonamide is mainly used in the synthesis of chloramine-T and Tevenel.
Used in the synthesis of fluorescent dyes, the manufacture of plasticizers, synthetic resins, coatings, disinfectants and wood processing brighteners.
It is mainly used as a flexibilizer for the synthesis of water-soluble melamine formaldehyde resin.
It is used as a primary brightener in bright nickel plating. It is used for bright multi-layer nickel plating to make the plating bright and uniform.
