Sodium nitrate is an inorganic substance with chemical formula NaNO3 and molecular weight of 84.99. It is a hygroscopic colorless transparent triangular crystal.
It decomposes when heated to 380℃. It is easily soluble in water and liquid ammonia, soluble in methanol and ethanol, very slightly soluble in acetone and slightly soluble in glycerol.When dissolved in water, heat is absorbed, the solution becomes cold, and the aqueous solution is neutral.
It is produced by industrial production with alkali solution absorption of nitrogen oxides, and then evaporation, crystallization. Used for nitric acid, sodium nitrite, as glass, match, enamel or ceramic industry ingredients, fertilizer, sulfuric acid industry in the catalyst.

1) Sodium nitrate is the raw material for the manufacture of potassium nitrate, mine explosives, picric acid, dyes, etc.
2) Nitrating agent for the manufacture of dye intermediates.
