It possesses excellent oil solubility, making it suitable for use as a metal deactivator in lubricants, while also offering good extreme-pressure and anti-wear properties.

Applications of Metal deactivator T561

Metal deactivator T561 is a thiadiazole polysulfide capable of scavenging active sulfur in oil products and inhibiting metal corrosion.

Due to the presence of polysulfide bonds, it forms a sulfide film on metal surfaces, effectively suppressing the catalytic effect of metal ions on the oil; consequently, T561 serves as a highly effective lubricant additive for enhancing oil performance.

In alkaline, high-zinc anti-wear hydraulic oil formulations, the addition of 0.03–0.05% T561 enables the oil to pass the Denison HF-2 hydrolytic stability test. In internal combustion engine oil formulations, adding 0.4–0.5% T561 can extend the TFOUT induction period by more than 60 minutes. Additionally, T561 can be used in industrial gear oils and premium gasoline engine oils.
